N8 - Vandalism in irrigation chambers
23 Aug 2024 - Web Master

Dear homeowners,

We are contacting you to let you know that on the 14th of August, STV let us know that they had found irrigation chambers in Naranjos 8 that had been tampered with. This has happened on other occasions and in other areas of the Resort. Over the years, hoses and chambers have been found to have been tampered with in an attempt to increase the flow rate or time of irrigation received.

Yesterday, STV again reported that during the early hours of 21 August someone had ‘literally’ burst the manholes which had previously been bolted down to prevent anyone outside the maintenance service from gaining access to them.

This generates actual and potential damage on several levels:

- STV's irrigation plan is altered and this area would receive water to the detriment of others. Altering the quota that each community could receive.

- The manholes have been damaged and the material has to be replaced, generating a cost that was not foreseen in the budget and which the Community has to pay.

- The manipulation of electro-valves and stopcocks could cause personal injury to anyone handling the manholes.

Water is a scarce and essential commodity and must be managed efficiently by authorised persons. This type of action only causes unnecessary damage and expense.

For all the above reasons, we ask you to refrain from such actions and to contact Security and the Administration when you witness similar acts.
