News: Jardines II - TORRENTIAL RAINS OF 14 DECEMBER 2025
Dear residents of Jardines 2,
On 14 December, an ORANGE weather alert was declared in the Alhama de Murcia area due to the heavy rainfall experienced throughout the day in the area.
As a consequence of these rains, we once again experienced partial flooding in several areas of the inner and outer perimeter of Condado de Alhama, as well as other isolated problems derived from this situation, such as water run-offs with mud and debris from stones and vegetation, high-risk accumulations of water and earth along a large part of the perimeter fencing in the surroundings of the SHOW ROOM, flooding-related blockages of access gates such as ALCANARA SOUTH or ALCANARA NORTH, and longer or shorter stretches of road on the outer ring road, in the surroundings of ALCANARA SOUTH and some roundabouts on the outer ring road towards CAÑADAS SOUTH.
The security staff, who as you should already know consist of ONLY ONE PATROL GUARD to deal with ALL incidents in a community of more than 3,500 homes, and growing every year due to new construction, worked tirelessly and did not stop moving from one place to another attending different calls. Irene Curtis, a resident of La Isla, and myself, as co-directors of the Condado de Alhama Security Committee, made ourselves available to the security staff to assist with tasks that required additional support, such as patrolling the entire inner and outer perimeter looking for problem areas, informing the Level 1 presidents and vice-president and the Urban Development Entity so that they, in turn, could attempt to disseminate updated information in real time through the available channels. We rescued several vehicles that had become stranded on the outer road while attempting to access their homes, monitored the condition of roads and access routes, requesting and receiving real-time information on the condition of access roads to Condado and to Alhama de Murcia, receiving information from a resident who is a member of the Traffic Civil Guard, from the Alhama Town Council itself and, of course, from our security staff, who remained constantly attending the incident phone line, as they always do, in addition to informing all drivers encountered about areas blocked due to flooding, etc., etc.
Information was also relayed from the Local Police, who advised against using vehicles unless it was strictly necessary due to an emergency. The police services of Alhama de Murcia were overwhelmed, but the Urban Planning Department remained attentive to the situation at Condado in case it became necessary to respond with Alhama’s emergency services.
The Head of Security Guards, assuming a significant personal risk and while off duty, travelled from Alhama de Murcia to Condado to join the team of guards and volunteers who were working throughout the community. This journey took place despite the fact that the main access roads from Alhama were closed to traffic by the Civil Guard.
Both the Security staff and the STV staff opened drainage covers in the days prior to the heavy rainfall, in anticipation of what was to come, which proved to be a very appropriate measure, as these drainage chambers were able to evacuate rainwater more quickly, while ensuring that no large objects obstructed the drains.
They also attempted to cordon off some sections temporarily closed to traffic using tape, but there is always some resident who drives through and removes these tapes with their vehicle.
Many thanks to all of them for their high level of involvement and dedication to service.
From the Security Committee, we are working to improve the emergency protocol for these situations, so that in the future we can implement some form of preventive advance warning, among other measures.
Now that the worst of the situation appears to have passed, please inspect your properties for possible rainwater leaks and, if any are detected, notify the administrators in writing so that they can record these incidents and arrange for the community insurance personnel to visit your properties with the aim of identifying the exact source of the problem and the appropriate solutions. We still have several homes with water infiltration issues from the heavy rains of March 2025, including my own, so please do not relax your vigilance and ensure you check the condition of your properties after these torrential rains.
Yours sincerely,
The President of Jardines 2
Juan Manuel
